The Terror In The Attic.
Hey,
.
Attics are the place where we people search, in the hope of finding some forgotten treasure, but sometimes you can find something quit extraordinary and not at all welcome.
How about a wasps nest that is said to be about 5′ wide ans up to 6′ in height.
.
A pest controller called Sean Whelan was confounded to be called into a country pub in Southampton, and to get an unexpected shock.
Upon investigation he found the unusually gigantic wasp’s nest in the attic….and he had to deal with it.
.
He did this by breaking open the top of the structure and spraying in a strong insecticide.
.
It has been estimated that about 500,000 wasps would be housed in a structure of this size.
.
Normally a wasp’s nest would be much smaller, as these creatures leave the nest in September and then hide about 6 ” deep in the soil until the following March, at which time they would rebuild.
.
This huge structure was probably caused by the modern habit of keeping houses very warm even in the wintertime, which confuses the life cycle of many such creatures .
.
Experts have confirmed that this is the largest wasp’s nest ever discovered.
All I can say is that I am bloody glad it was not in my attic!
Have a fine sting-free day yourself.
