The Wonders Of Creation.1

Hi again,

.

Got another sunny morning here today folks.

As we are now into September, I feel we are doing well weatherwise.

.

Did you see the programme ‘Lost Land Of The Volcano’ on BBC One this week?

.

I did not get to see it until I watched  a recording last night.

WOW and WOW again.

It was fabulous.  Now I understand where the story of the huge new species of cat-sized Wooly Bosavi Rat came from.

.

There was true wonder in seeing the scientists finding one or two new species every day.

It was amusing to watch the Expedition leader  enthusing about his own speciality, which is insects, and actually kissing a particularly huge beetle that he was totally thrilled to meet.

Either he has kissed a lot of frogs in his time or he is just naturally affectionate.

.

There were Parrots as small as a man’s thumb.

Bats with a large hooked digit in the middle of their wings, to enable them to climb nimbly in the trees and eat figs.

The expert was filming them with infra-red, and we saw them squabbling over their own particular patches of tree (with figs), and then we saw them testing their fruit to see if it was ripe enough to eat.

.

That particular presenter was quite hilarious in a deadpan sort of way.

When they had all examined the little parrots he casually remarked to the rest of his party that….”Do you know…I am confidently expecting to find a tiny, little pirate around here somewhere!”…My goodness, did he crack them all up!

His comment while filming the fig-eating bats, from his position under the tree, was that he was observing that the figs were having exactly the same effect upon the bats as they do upon us.

There were new beetles, animals, fish and snakes.

Truly wonderful.

Like being present at the beginning of creation.

.

I would absolutely recommend that you watch catch-up TV and them watch the whole series.

Out of this world in every possible way.

.

I was a bit creeped out when the ‘adventurer/explorer’ type naturalist, lead his party for miles into a cave system, deep inside the mountain.

It was black and wet and scary, but he did find some white, eyeless crabs who live forever in the darkness.

.

Cannot wait until next Tuesday.

I am loving it.
