Two Steps Forward, One Step back!

Hi peeps,

.

So it is the weekend, and a Sunday, and a very fine one it is too.

.

I was up early this morning, to be greeted by hot sunshine and wall to wall blue skies.

The weather has been a bit iffy lately, and not at all the amazing heatwave which was forecast for the whole of June, because we have experienced a great deal of cold and rainstorms.

.

However, we have also enjoyed quite a few sunny mornings like today, and sometimes it lasts beyond late morning….like today.

.

I am writing my post very late, because I have spent the morning lying around, lazily reading the Sunday parers and having a fine munch on brown granary toast and Marmite, and generally being indulgent.

.

Life has continued to be very quiet since Big H was carted off to hospital a couple of weeks ago.

He is extremely tired all of the time and he spends the odd afternoon back in bed to rest….but hey, he is alive and that is much better than the alternative!

Since coming out of hospital he had been on higher doses of his medications, and strong antibiotics and painkillers, but that is stopping slowly now.

.

I cannot wait for him to start his agreed daily injections of growth hormone, the same as Russell Watson administers to himself, which will hopefully provide the poor old thing with an improvement in energy and some proper quality of life after so long.

.

It will be wonderful to be able to go for proper daily walks again, as well as the odd full day out.

I shall especially enjoy being able to look around the shops and new places with him, instead of him driving us there and then waiting in the car while I dash around doing the things that need to be attended to.

It is amazing how you miss meandering around together, perhaps stopping for the odd drink in the pub or a bite to eat….or most enjoyable of all….a picnic by the seaside or on a riverbank or a seat outside a pretty country church or city cathedral.

Or away-days on the train, to see what you can see.

.

Perhaps our retirement might work out more as we had planned if we are lucky.

I mean, I had actually planned on winning the lottery, but nothing is ever perfect is it!

.

This afternoon is all untouched as yet, so I may be lucky and find Big H feeling well enough for a little walk around the block….and I may meet a nice cat.

There is a lovely plump and furry one who lives nearby but I have not been able to visit with him lately, so I would really like to do that.

.

For dinner we are going to have something simple, which will probably be pasta and pesto with tinned red salmon.

Unfortunately, there will be no white wine to accompany it, because Big H is healthier without alcohol at the moment and it is unkind if I visibly enjoy doing something in front of someone who wants to but cannot.

Oh God, I am so saintly that I am unbearable!

.

I have also been preparing some new canvases as I have got to stop worrying about Big H and do something creative, other then grinding my poor teeth into new and unusual shapes.

.

I hope that you have an enjoyable and worry-free one yourself.

J,x.
