Unmissable. Love Me Love My Face.

Good Morning Peeps,

.

Welcome to Friday, and the promise of the weekend ahead.

.

Yesterday was slightly different from the usual one we have.

Big H was not very well and had to spend the day in bed, so did not end up going out to play games with his friend as is usual on a Thursday.

The end result was the same however, as I was left in the living room to amuse myself again last night,.

.

At one point, later on in the evening, I decided to watch a television programme that I had picked out to record earlier.

I actually had no idea what it was about as the TV listing just gave the title and said that there was no programme info available.

I had recorded it anyway because I found the title intriguing….Love Me Love My Face.

.

It turned out to be wholly compelling viewing for me.

It was a documentary programme following a period in the life of a 25 year old man called Jono Lancaster.

He is a very fit young man with a beautiful body and the most stylish ‘Rod Stewart/Paul weller’ hairdo ever.

.

What is so different about him you may ask.

.

Well Jono was born with a rare genetic condition called Treacher Collins Syndrome.

This affects the bones of the face, while the growing foetus is developing in it’s mother’s womb.

Jono has been left with no cheekbones at all and the result is that his eyes droop downwards.

He also has ears which are small and his hearing is affected.

.

As can sometimes happen with children who are born with challenging conditions, his birth parents decided upon giving him up for adoption within two days of his birth.

.

He was very lucky however and was fostered by a lovely lady who ended up adopting him when he was five years old.

He underwent different operations and has ended up with a screw implanted behind his ear which holds his hearing aid in place although it appears to be gold coloured and is hard to see in his hair.

.

He is very charismatic, and after the first surprise at seeing him look a bit different, you just forget about it quickly because he is such a strong personality.

The fact that he is so attractive has not been missed by a beautiful ‘hot’ woman called Laura Richards, who met him at the gym, and fell in love with him there and then.

They have now been together for about three years, and are so very much in love.

.

Jono’s attitude to life is amazing because he does not ask for special treatment, he is very gung-ho and he just gets on with it, doing what he has to do.

His gym training is done rigorously every day….and it shows too.

.

One section is such excellent viewing.

He goes to a school to explain who he is and how children should not bully others etc.

I think that he is expecting about 200, 7-11 year olds, and meets about 400 instead, with resulting nerves.

They all love him and ask for autographs afterwards and don’t want seem to want him to leave.

.

He also goes to meet a lovely couple who also had to face the news that their child has the same inherited condition….for them, meeting such a personable and charming man must have been a gift.

.

The BBC programme shows him while he is on a quest to find out who his birth parents are and to try and meet them again as an adult.

.

This was a heartwarming programme and I would most thoroughly recommendnd it.

.

This is a link to the BBC catch-up of it.

It will be available til thursday December 2nd so don’t miss it!
