View The Day.

Hi Peeps,

.

Oh my goodness….Red Sky In The Morning, Sailors’ Warning.

.

That was what happened here this morning.

A most beautiful sky, but what does it presage for us.

.

Everything is covered in frost this morning, and it feels like that includes myself!

.

The central heating is still programmed to switch off at midnight and reset at 7.30 am, and that is making it very very cold during the early morning.

It was well below freezing last night and I kept waking up during the night with an icy cold head and what must have been my reddest nose yet.

Thank goodness for the electric blanket we were clever enough to buy, to replace the old and dodgy one.

.

If this is the beginning of December, then I am dreading to experience the rest of the wintertime.

Yes, we could leave the central heating on for the full 24 hours, but that would be so expensive now that fuel prices have been jumping up in price so many times over the past year or so.

.

In fact, it is not unlike my own childhood days.

Our flat was heated by a open fire in the living room, which Mum used to start off once she got up, using the cold cinders left from the dying fire the previous evening.

.

My brother and I would finally have to forgo our warm beds and leap out onto freezing cold lino, breath billowing whitely in the air before us as we desperately put on yesterday’s clothes as fast as we possibly could.

.

Then, we would use our fingernails to scratch at the filigree of ice on the inside of the window panes, in order to see what we could see out there in the small world of our childhood.

.

This is really pretty much the same for me at the moment, without the excitement and resilience of being young and hardy.

In those days, we knew only the world of our few streets, and thought, if we thought at all, that everyone’s life was just the same as that which was lived by our neighbours and ourselves.

.

So, to get back to the point, I don’t know what the day has in store but I shall be expecting that it may well contain the snow blizzards that have been taking place in other parts of the country, and which have been forecast to start here about now.

One thing for sure, I shall be facing them in many layers of clothes, furry sheepskin boots and a very warm woolly beret (leopard patterned angora and nylon for those of you who are interested!).

.

One good thing, is that I spent yesterday wrapping all of the various presents that we had cunningly bought long before all of these desperate sales by worried stores began happening..

Hey, I know that it costs more doing your shopping earlier but I am not up for the worry of things being sold out and the delays in the post which accompany the style of buying things at the last moment!.

.

So, it only remains to say ‘Goodbye’ ….

…. from Nanook Of The North.x.

.
By the way, this video has caused much amusement on YouTube.
It was taken while a gentleman in Fife, Scotland, was filming a sign outside his window which was shaking in the high winds.
