Vivien Leigh’s Coat Is Up For Grabs In Durham.

Hi,

.

Wonderful day here today, all sunny/windy/cloudy/ hot/ chilly and obviously very changeable.

Could end up any way at all, but hopefully sunny!

.

My new leopard Chelsea Boots are still generating pleasure and are now looking quite hairy, which is unusual and funky.

I have decided that I fancy a leopardskin coat this year so I have been doing a bit of research online.

They are to be found at all levels of the High Street from Primark at £38, Next at £55, H&M at £69, and after that….the financial sky is the limit.

The only problem is the yukky feel of some modern fun fur, made of cheapy acrylics, so I may not go along that route.

In the 60′s and 70′s there were some superb fake furs with a really plush and luxurious feel to them, so I may check out the vintage stores first and see what they have at the moment,

I am still thinking about it, because I also have a weakness for military style gear, and there are some excellent coats and jackets available which have braid, epaulettes and many buttons.

Ahhhh, fashion!

.

This is exciting news!!!!!!!!

I have just had a break to have a small coffee, for which sin I am now risking a migraine, but hey!

What I did while drinking that, was to go online, looking for a nearby vintage shop which has a decent leopardskin coat for sale.

It seems that the Ding Dong vintage shop in The Gates Shopping Centre in Durham City is a good bet.

I believe that Johnny Depp’s personal stylist was in there recently and bought a suit for the star.

It also has an interesting coat for sale at the moment, which belonged to the beautiful actress Vivien Leigh and was bought by the owner from Millers Salerooms in Newcastle-upon-Tyne recently.

The ocelot coat was sold together with a luxury pig-skin suitcase, which has the initials V.L.O and dates from the time of her marriage to Laurence Olivier, which was from 1940-1960, and which still has Cunard stickers on it.

Apparently the case is pristine, with a gold quilted lining.

.

The newspaper report was from August 18th so it may be gone.

I shall ring and find out.

.

‘Please talk amongst yourselves while I make a phone call to the shop’.

.

The owner is away for the holidays but the coat has been put away for safety.

It seems that there is a lot of interest in it but I can have a look at it if I want to go there.

The lady I spoke to does not know the price though!

Mmmmm….could be expensive, and I only want a decent quality coat to wear, not some kind of movie memorabilia collector’s item, although it is a lovely connection if it is affordable.

Hmmmm…I wish I knew the price of it!

Perhaps, if Big H is feeling chipper today we could drive to Durham and have a day out there, although it is a bit chilly for hiring a boat and going for a row on the river.

It is a very beautiful and historic place and always worth a day’s visit.

.

Gosh, isn’t life interesting sometimes.

.

Have an interesting one yourself too.

Jaksie,x.
