Weekend’s Nigh.

Hi,

So it is Friday again, where on earth did the rest of the week go.

I don’t seem to have done anything but apply miles of gloss paint to everything in sight.

.

Here today, where I live, the weather can only be described as very, very, wet, but it will be very refreshing for all of my patio plants

.

There was no time for niceties with the birds this morning.  Just dash out with a bag of ready torn-up bread, quickly up-end the bag, and beat the world record for sprinting on the way back in.

There were not very many birds to be seen in the tree, so I expect that they have all absconded off to somewhere dry, soaking wet and in a huff.

.

As it was Big H’s night for going out to play computer games with his friend yesterday, he always goes to the Spar and buys me some bottled, speciality real ales and a couple of packets of Bombay Mix to go with them,  so that I can have a good night too.

I did not eat all of the Bombay Mix, so I added it to today’s bird food, in the hope that the doves and wood pigeons amongst them will enjoy that sort of thing, because it looks a lot like pigeon feed.

I hope that they don’t all die.  The road of good intentions may end up littered with pigeon carcasses because of my various experiments concerning the food preferences of my avian friends.!

.

I am now sitting before my computer, dry, fed with two Warburton\’s, and watered with yet another big pink pot of green tea.

We have recently changed from Earl Grey, as I am not sure that the added Bergamot oil in it, can be terrifically good for us over many years of drinking excessive amounts of tea.

And besides that, green tea is chock full of antioxidants.

It is amazing how quickly you get used to the somewhat strange taste, and begin to enjoy it, just like the other kind.

.

I don’t know if I told you, but Big H has been suffering from Conjunctivitis all of this week.

Last Saturday one of his eyes (he has two of them, contrary to what you may have suspected) became gritty and sore.

This quickly developed into a glowing red orb and he said that it was very painful.

He got some ointment for it and I have been putting it into his eye three times every day, without fail.

.

I am doing it for him because that is much easier than having to nag him to make sure that HE does it.

And of course you cannot rely on men, who often eat stuff off the floor, to remember to wash their hands before and after doing it either.

And..most important of all..I do not want to catch it from him..as it is a most contagious thing.

I like wearing blood-red lipstick all the time, but I draw the line at having blood-red eyes to match.

.

It seems to be doing the job and his eye is gradually returning to normal again, thank goodness.  It was like living with Dracula!

It looked shocking, just like Christopher Lee when he played Dracula.
.

.

Do you remember him, he was the actor in a lot of the early, cheesy Dracula films, which were a lot of fun at the time.

I love it when it begins where the carriage stops in the middle of a huge, dark, lonely forest, with only the moon showing the black outline of a glowering castle silhouetted against the sky, and the driver looks down into the door of the vehicle and says worriedly “Oi would not care to get out anywhere here if oi were you..’tis an evil place”.

Of course they always get out…..and they should always have listened to the coachman.  Excellent!

Now that I have remembered about it I think that we should get some of them out and have a whole ‘Dracula Sunday’.

You know what I mean.  A kind of popcorn, beer, and fun fest…but not scary…I do not like scary!

Inside my own head can be scary enough, I do not need any outside help.  Besides, everything you see remains in your mind, even if you cannot recall it consciously, so I think that a person should be careful what they allow in there.

.

Sometimes modern tastes for horror scares me.

Just think how the boundaries have moved, and how rapidly.

When Alfred Hitchcock brought out his film called ‘Psycho’, there had to been people from The Red Cross in the theatres , because it was so frightening that it made members of the audience faint .

.

Now there is a booming following for the most outrageous slasher movies that can be imagined, along with games like Grand Theft Auto.

Is that a good thing?

Does it benefit a society to have the members of it inured to all but the most shocking sights and emotions.

.

The trouble is that something only truly shocks the first time, and eventually such  strong visceral thrills can only be obtained by something even worse.

It degrades the sensitivity and eventually the previously unacceptable becomes acceptable, and so it continues.

That is why I do not believe children should be encouraged to grow used up becoming used to violence and mayhem in their computer games.

Their own imagination is one thing, but looking at very graphic, created images is another thing entirely.

.

However, I will not get started down that particular road,

Suffice it to say that, for a child, I think boredom can be the doorway to creative imagination and development, and not a reason to instantly try to fill up their time with purchased outside amusements.

Learning to sit quietly and escape into the worlds of books, is the best thing that can ever happen to anybody.

It will always provide a safe escape to another place..the world of information, wonders and adventures that it can provide.

.

I do think that my weekend will contain lots of dust, paintbrushes and Dulux Gloss Paint…hopefully with some decent  drink to look forward too in the evenings.

OH…and X Factor too of course.

.

I hope I don’t die from all this DIY’ing, instead of from a surfiet of excellent sex……not my plan at all!

LOL
