Why Oh Why!

Hi,

.

Greetings to you.

.

Although this is still a beautiful country, it seems that the problems of littering and fly tipping are getting worse everywhere.

This is really strange when you think that there are Waste Management Sites all over the place, which are free and run by the council.

They also have a scheme whereby you can ring them to arrange to place large items outside and they will be collected for you, although there is a fee for this service.

.

A friend of mine who lives in a village, was furious to have come out of her cottage one day and discover that someone had dumped a big pile of builder’s rubble in a field entry near her house, totally disfiguring a very quiet and beautiful lane.

Why!

.

It is bad enough when rubbish is not collected as usual because of bad weather etc. but fly tipping is so disgusting.

We often see plastic bags dumped in a heap by the side of country roads, and we always question why those who do it can be bothered to come out and do that, but cannot be bothered to just call in at a proper waste site and dispose of rubbish properly in the first place.

.

It gets everyone so incensed to be faced with this problem so regularly.

There are even films of rubbish that has been dumped, uploaded onto U Tube.

.

This is not to mention all of the wildlife that gets caught by plastic ties etc, and then cannot get free again.

And rats!
.
And, strangely enough, you do get different problems when people put things in the bin that should not go in there at all.

.

There is a long-standing problem of this type in Newborough in Cambridge, where fly tipping has gone on for upwards of two decades.

There is an access road there, which is half a mile long, and it is said to be costing the Peterborough council about £52,000 per annum to continually keep dealing with the piles of rubbish.

Just imagine that, approximately £1,000 per week to keep clearing away rotting food, builder’s rubble, bedding and all sorts of stuff , over and over again, endlessly.

.

A local councillor was reported as saying that they believe that there could be people coming up to abouty eighty miles to dump their crap there.

I saw a film of this particular problem on U Tube.
.

.

Or last year on Monken Hadley Common , Barnet.

Filmed by a passing runner- hence the panting.
.

.

I have no doubt that the story is being repeated all over the place, in England’s green and pleasant land.

Hmm!
