X Factor Semi Final, With Videos. 5th December 2009.

Hi,

.

Not long to wait now until we see who wins the competition next week.

.

Only four contestants are left and they are all desperate to reach the Final.

.

The theme for the first four songs was Michael Jackson’s music.

.

First up was Olly Murs singing Can You Feel It.

.

.

I felt that it was a good attempt but I did not like the choice of song.

He is just not doing it for me anymore, which I find amazing when I remember how he totally blew me away when I saw him in his first audition.

He just does not seem to have found a style.

The judges liked him a lot and cannot imagine the Final without him in it.

.

In the first interval between segments of the show I heard Slade sing ‘So Here It Is, Merry Christmas’.

Every year my Xmas feeling always starts when I hear them singing that song,

Now I want mince pies, dates and satsumas….plus lots of ice cold Cava.

.

Second up was Joe McElderry singing Out Of My Life.

.

.

Well sung as usual.  He is so consistently good.

He learns to improve his delivery and maturity every week.

The judges were blown away by him again.

.

Third was Stacey Solomon, singing The Way You Make Me Feel.

.

.

A good performance given the worrying routine she was given at this point in the game, which cannot have helped.

I thought that she seems to have grown in confidence.

Louie and Simon did not like it at all.

Louie thought that it was the wrong song and Simon said it was Cabaret, silly and gimmicky.

The poor girl probably went off and had a good cry!

.

Last was Danyl Johnson, singing Man In The Mirror.

.

.

As usual I did not like it very much at all but the audience made noise.

The judges loved it, although they managed to have an argument about the background and the general presentation.

.

Voting began at this point in the show.

The next section consisted of one more performance each, singing a song chosen by their mentors.

.

1. Olly murs.

.

.

Lots of dancing this time.

He gave it all he could but I found it far too frantic.

The audience loved it.

The judges were supportive.

,

2. Joe McElderry.

.

.

Cheryl thought that this was the sort of song that he should sing in his career.

As usual he sang it perfectly even though he had to stand on a strange platform with a big sparkler going off over his head.

The judges were totally enthusiastic about him.

He is amazing for his age.

Simon said that he had wondered about the wisdom of Cheryl choosing a song which was not well known, at such an important point in the show, but that it was the perfect choice.

.

3. Stacey Solomon.

.

.

She gave it her all.

Too many harsh, loud, long notes for me.

I think that she may be the one to go but the great British public does love good girl singers.

The judges loved it totally.

Cheryl said that it gave her goose bumps.

.

4. Danyl Johnson.

.

.

He gave it his all too.

Didn’t do anything for me, as usual, but Louie was very enthusiastic, as was Simon.

.

So we will see the results of the Great British Public Vote tomorrow.

Be there or be square!
